Classes & Ministries
United Methodist Youth
Students in grades six through twelve meet on Sunday evenings for Bible study, activities, and fellowship. Our youth group also participates in service project, goes to the annual United Methodist Resurrection worship event, and fellowships at retreats, lock-ins, and day trips.
Asbury offers several annual events for children and their families, including our Easter Egg Hunt, Back to School Party, Trunk or Treat, and Christmas Pageant. Each summer we hold a Mondays at Asbury Program. Mondays at Asbury is a full-day program held over the course of the entire summer that includes crafts, games, music, Bible study, and more to children age four through fifth grade.
Choir and Music
The Asbury choir sings a variety of traditional anthems, spirituals, and hymn settings in Sunday morning worship as well as special programs throughout the year. Our worship services are also enhanced throughout the year by special vocalists and instrumentalists who expand the range of musical offerings, including the harp and bagpipes by Kelly Shipe and bluegrass by Thankful Heart, a popular local gospel group.
Men’s Breakfast and Bible Study
The Men’s Breakfast and Bible Study meets on the first Saturday of every month, sharing food, fellowship, and Scripture. The Bible Study is led on a rotating basis by both men of the church and special guests. The men also do work projects both on the church grounds and as local mission work.
Sunday School Program
An integral program of our church, Sunday School meets at 10:45 a.m., after worship service. A modern nursery, children’s age level classes, youth, college and continuing education students, and several adult level classes from “young-ish” to senior adults are available each week to study, discuss, and grow in faith through our interaction with one another.
The Heaven’s Acre Playground is available on the church property to the community at large. Open during daylight hours, the large fenced-in area has swings, slides, a wooden swinging bridge and a large multi-challenge structure that not only provide entertainment but also developmental opportunities. Two covered porch swings offer adults comfortable observation areas while the children play. Picnic tables invite you to bring food, have your lunch or host a party. The playground cannot be reserved, but is open and available every day from sunup to sundown.
